The best time for Tuna fishing is July, August,
September.
We have an experienced crew to assist you reel in
your first one (Hopefully). It typically takes 10-60 minutes to
reel in a medium schoolie which is typical to what we are catching
in 2007 and about 2 hours+ for larger fish.
Seeking Tuna is exciting as you will see numerous
whales (5 local species) and other sea life (Seals, Sharks, Dolphins)
as you scan the waters for schools of feeding tuna. |

Typically we run 20+ miles off shore depending on weather, “fish
bite reports” and whale activity (We fish near the whales but at
a respectable distance), so plan on a very full day, often leaving
before dawn and returning early afternoon. We don’t clock watch
so if we are on a big fish, “strap in”..!
Tuna fishing can be a tedious and slow experience. Like anything
you are never guaranteed a fish. Be prepared for steaming for 1+
hours each way to our fishing grounds.
This trip is recommended for the patient fishermen but not anyone
who is prone to sea sickness.
