Musical selections, poetry, readings and other requests are accomodated. White Cap is equipped with a CD and Cassette Player. Please alert the Captain in advance if you will wish to play music or other selections during the ceremony.

The Bagpipes of Dunvegan

White Cap Charters' Piper, Mr. M. J. MacKay carries on this MacKay tradition by providing piping in full Highland attire from Ghillie Brogues shoes to a Glengarry cap and uses African Blackwood bagpipes for your burial at sea event.

Mr. MacKay was awarded tuition at the College of Piping P.E.I , The Invermark Piping School and the Gaelic College on the Isle of Skye Scotland to study.

 

Dunvegan Castle is located on the shores of Loch Dunvegan, Isle of Skye, Scotland.

The castle was the home of the MacCrimmon College of Piping founded in 1611.

Studying there were Scotland’s greatest pipers including, Ruairidh MacKay of Gairloch 1609-1689, and his son Iain Dall MacKay of Gairloch 1656-1754.

They were trained to be Hereditary Pipers to the Clan Chief of the MacKenzies.

The cost for Mr. MacKay to perform is $275.00 and includes greeting selections, interment selections and a departure selection.

In the event of a prior engagement, Pipes of Dunvegan has equally qualified pipers to stand in, with ample notice.
